I have sent this response to Marriage Equality USA and thought it was important to share here as well.
I would like to encourage you to forward this as well. I don't believe the content of
that message was representative of anyone other than that one person-- certainly not any "new ACT UP kids."
The number of young women and men who have great respect and admiration for the contributions of the older members of our community-- whose efforts allow us to even have a voice today!!-- greatly outnumbers the few who spread negativity and aim to divide. As a young person who will continue to be a part of this ongoing fight for equal rights, I, and so many other young people, look forward to continuing our close work with any and all who share our belief that equality is not just a privilege for the few, but a right that must be demanded for all. I adamantly believe that if we are to win this fight, and the future fights that we will face, it is imperative we find common ground and work together.
